This morning we were all 'dragging', so I tried thawing them a few minutes, adding a couple tablespoons of rice milk, plus added a little bit of agave.. MAN did that make a difference! We were fighting over the last few drops! An hour later, we're feeling great! (Thanks so much for your advice!)Jennoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7015641473202244138.post-87755501420687437732012-04-05T22:20:37.438-06:002012-04-05T22:20:37.438-06:00Jen: Way to go trying new healthy things. Also if you wanted it a little sweeter I like using agave also extra OJ works too.Tammiehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03519210216151040312noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7015641473202244138.post-57069997336079008692012-04-05T17:29:09.971-06:002012-04-05T17:29:09.971-06:00This was my family's very first smoothie. Bear...This was my family's very first smoothie. Bearing in mind we're a Junk Food family (our idea of 'healthy' is ground beef vegetable soup - from canned vegies!), ALL of us tolerated it, although we also stated we wished it were sweet-tasting. I think this might have come from two mistakes, though: (1) an OJ concentrate we typically don't like when added to water, and (2) a very bitter-tasting bag of frozen peaches.
For anybody new out there just learning, I think it's important to begin with product you know you like already.
By the way, we used a whole, 10-oz bag of ready-to-eat spinach in there. We ended up adding a tiny bit more almond milk plus an extra spoonful of O.J. to try to cover-up the spinach.
Was that because we're new to this, or did we add too much spinach? Thanks in advance!
PS I personally liked it! Just a matter of people with NO experience with healthy stuff!Jennoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7015641473202244138.post-21218399653483162812012-02-23T10:36:37.256-07:002012-02-23T10:36:37.256-07:00Dena: You could but Kale is much stronger than sp...Dena: You could but Kale is much stronger than spinach so it will change the flavor. Not a dumb question a very good one in fact we are all learning asking questions is a good way to learn. ;) It's important to have the Spinach raw becuase cooking it destroys the enzymes and a lot of the nutrients. If I have a bunch in my fridge though and it is going to go bad before I can use it all I will put it in the freezer. Still works great for green smoothies frozen like that.Tammiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03519210216151040312noreply@blogger.com
