Homemade Italian Seasoning Mix

Remember a few weeks ago, when I showed you how to make your own Taco Seasoning Mix?  I'm very excited about making my own mixes!  Single spices especially bought in bulk are way cheaper then mixes and I'm noticing that they even have a more homemade flavor!  Not sure how that works... maybe there are added unwanted ingredients in bought spice blends labeled under "spices" that we have no idea what they are.  So I'm thinking this is not only going to save me money but going to be healthier too!  I also noticed that if I'm going to have a bunch of jars of spice mixes in my pantry and cupboards I had better be sure to label them well.  I found a cute, easy and fun way to do that!  Be sure to read below the recipe and picture tutorial to get your free download of my labels!

Homemade Italian Seasoning
1/2 oregano
1/2 cup basil
1/4 cup rosemary
1/4 cup marjoram
1/4 cup thyme
1/4 cup sage
2 Tablespoons dried minced garlic

Mix spices all together.  For best results and a good blend follow the picture tutorial below!

To make it so the spices blended evenly and didn't have big chunks that won't go through a shaker.....
I took the sage, rosemary and garlic and....

....blended them in my blender until they were broke down well, not a powder just small pieces.

Then I added the oregano, marjoram, and basil to the blender and just pulsed it a few times until they were mixed in well.

Then I poured the mixture into a wide mouth pint jar.  I also took my old spice jar and cleaned it up good.  At that point I realized I was going to need to start labeling these mixes!

So I made and printed me up some labels!

A small one, 2x2 for the spice jar.

A large one 4x2 for the pint jar with the recipe printed on it so when I run out it's easy to hurry and mix me up some more!

I also made some labels for the Taco Seasoning I had made.  I printed mine on 4x2 mailing labels!  You could just print them on paper and tape them on this would work well too.  Or you could print them on card stock and tie them on, but I only recommend this if you are making them for a gifts.  These would make great gifts by the way, Mother's day is coming right up!  I hope to have some other Mother's Day gift ideas for you too so stay tuned! ;)

Do you want a download of my labels?  Well here you go, click here or the button below and it will take you to the labels!  As I make more mixes I will add more labels but I figure you will be as excited as I am about having cute homemade spices AND labels!
