Help For Japanese Earthquake Victims

You know I'm kind of having a hard day today.  After a weekend of beautiful weather and spending the day yesterday seeing good friends, waking up with a sore neck and no sunshine today wasn't so great.  I have moped around and felt kind of sorry for myself.  I looked at the forecast and it looks like rain and snow all week!  I am so ready for spring it's not even funny but it seems like it just almost taunts me until about May then we pretty much skip Spring and go straight to Summer.  I keep trying to convince Ryan we should move to a warmer climate.

As I think about these things, it doesn't take long for me to start feeling guilty for even having such thoughts.  We are so BLESSED!  I have so much to be grateful for!  The Lord has always watched over us, helped us, protected us!  Instead of taking the time here to list all my many blessing (it's impossible anyway!)  I have decided I want to give to those who are less fortunate and have experienced much worse weather then I have!  Those many people in Japan!  They have been in my prayers since I heard about the earthquake in Japan.  I do think if there is nothing else you can do to help..... PRAYING for others helps in AMAZING ways that I don't think we even realize or comprehend!  I have been the recipient of prayers many times in my life and I cannot even explain how much that means and how much it actually HELPS!

Also I know we are all experiencing some hard financial times and food and gas prices probably won't get better any time soon.  Inflation will probably increase faster then our paychecks will and all of us have had to tighten our belts over the past few years!

I have also noticed many times that when we forget about ourselves and try to serve and help others..... our problems seem smaller and our burdens lighten.  I have found the best thing to do when having money problems is to actually give money to those who need it more than you and some way or another my money problems seem to diminish.  I know God is very aware of each of us and he wants so much to bless all of us.... but He also wants us to learn and grow and to follow the perfect example of His Son Jesus Christ!

I really wish I could do something more!  I wish I could take all those suffering from the events surrounding Earthquake in Japan and sit them down to a nice healthy homemade meal, give them a warm bed to sleep in and share with them the Love of our Savior!  I would let them know that I know they will be able to see again any loved ones who have passed on during this terrible tragedy.  But since that isn't really possible for me I feel like this is the next best thing I can do.

Below is a donate button to my church's Humanitarian Aid department!  I have always enjoyed and felt good about giving to them because I know that 100% of my donations go directly to those in need.  I know that they are doing all they can right now to help those in Japan.  I don't have a lot to give but I want to give what I can.  I also want to give a portion of the sales of my eBooks!  So for the rest of this month 20% of profits from my ebook sales will go toward the humanitarian aid.  I know it will slow down my goal of earning enough money to pay for Master Herbalist courses.  But I also know with God all things are possible!  When we put our focus away from ourselves and strive to help others God magnifies and blesses our efforts!

May He bless each one of you in your efforts to serve and help any way that we can!  Even if it's just loving and serving our own families and praying for those around the world!  I hope we will all remember how much power and healing there is in prayer,  God is there he is aware of each of us!

Tammie,
I really liked this post. It's never fun to feel sad or discouraged, but it is nice to hear the things we already know, but need to be reminded of. Serve others!

I just found your blog from the Jacob's Cove blog. Your recipes look delicious, and you have such great information on natural remedies and products. I'm trying to slowly integrate more of these kinds of products into my family. I can't wait to try some of your recipes. Thanks for sharing your story, too. I'll need to do a bit of reading to catch up. Thanks!
