Apple Pie Turnovers with Campfire Option

Last year I bottled a bunch of quarts of this Apple Pie Filling but I have noticed that we weren't using very much.  So I have been trying to think of ways to use all that pie filling.  We are also always trying to think of fun ways to roast things over the campfire when camping, since hotdogs and marshmallows don't work to well for us. ;)  Some friends of ours told us about turnovers that they love to make with campfire sandwich roasters, they said they used pudding or pie fillings etc. and that got me thinking!!  Here is our final product.  They work perfect over the campfire using roasters like
These Square Ones
or
Round Ones Like These

You can also make them in your Kitchen by using one of those electric sandwich press things we have one
Like This
or maybe even a waffle iron would work! So how about the recipe! I hope you enjoy, we have sure had fun making them at home or camping this Summer!!

Make Your Own Healthy Apple Pie Turnovers
Coconut oil
1 Quart Apple Pie Filling
1 Loaf whole grain bread
Caramel Sauce (optional)

Spread coconut oil on the outside of the bread or coat the inside of the press with it.  Spoon Apple pie filling in between two pieces of bread, press together in press (Campfire or Kitchen one).  Cook until toasty and golden brown on the outside.  Drizzle with caramel sauce if desired, also great with Homemade Vanilla Ice Cream
