Raw Veggie Crackers

It has been a long while since I posted here on Tammie's blog. I have no excuse other than I can't seem to get my lazy bones to post recipes anymore. Yet, here I am attempting to mend my slothful ways and bust out some goodies.

My little family has decided to make this August a month of raw food. We are calling it 'Rawgust' and we will be trying out lots of new raw recipes. Tammie asked if I would share some of the tasty ones with all of you. Here is our latest and greatest favorite. It has kept our dehydrator working day and night.

Raw Veggie Crackers
2 1/4 cup carrot chunks
1/2 cup raisins
juice of 1 lemon
2 cups raw sunflower seeds
3/4 cup golden flax seeds
1/2 small onion
2 cloves garlic
2 tsp. sea salt
dash of black pepper

{Pizza Flavored}
1 1/2 Tbsp. oregano
2 tsp. ground fennel
2 tsp. fennel seed

{Sun-ripened Tomato and Jalapeno Flavored}
1/2 cup sun-ripened tomatoes
1-2 jalapenos {with or without seeds}

{Mexican Flavored}
2 tsp. Chili Powder
1 tsp. cumin
1 jalapeno {with or without seeds}

In a food processor with S blade, blend carrots and raisins together until very finely chopped. Add lemon juice and slowly add in sunflower seeds and flax seeds, pulsing until all incorporated. Then add the rest of the ingredients, pulsing.
The mixture does not want to be completely smooth. If the processor gets bound up add a little water and continue pulsing. Spread mixture, about 1/4 inch thick, onto dehydrator teflex sheets. Dehydrate at 125 degrees for 6 hours and then flip over for another 6 hours or until completely dehydrated. Cut into squares and store in air tight container.

Get creative and make your own flavors! So Tasty!!

MmmmMmm Em those sound way good! I have all the stuff for them, I'm going to make some right now! Tell me what is your favorite flavor?

They are all very tasty...but we all agree that our favorite is the sun-ripened tomato n' jalapeno! The tomatoes we used are the ones we dehydrated straight from our garden. So much fun!

Good luck!

This looks so good, thanks for all the great recipes and info. I love this blog and it is really helping me transition from SAD. Do you think it matters if my flax seeds are not golden?

Des: I think golden would look better and have a lighter flavor but if I only had dark flax seeds I would not think twice about substituting them.
